DUI do's and don'ts:
DO:
- Supply identifying information upon request
- Demand an immediate, confidential phone call with an attorney
- Consent to a blood or breath test after calling your attorney (unless it would unduly delay the investigation)
- Request that a blood or urine sample be preserved for independent analysis
- Demand to be released for an independent test
DON'T:
- Say anything. You have the constitutional right to remain silent. Do not tell the police where you are coming from, where you are going, what if anything you have had to drink or eat, or any information other than your identity.
- Consent to a search of your vehicle, your bags, your person, or your home
- Take field sobriety tests or roadside tests, especially eye examinations including HGN.
- Blow into a portable breath machine (PBT)
